Dual-device control
Dual-device control puts two of your devices side by side in one control screen, so you can work on both without switching browser tabs. Both devices are locked to you for the whole session, and you can swap either of them for another available device without ending the session.
The cap is two devices per session.
Starting a dual-device session#
There are two ways in:
- From the Devices page. Tick the checkbox on two available tiles, then click Control in the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen. See Controlling two devices at once.
- From a running session. Click + Add device (1/2) in the left rail. A picker lists every device you could lock right now; click one and it opens as a second tile next to the first.
Either way, each device is locked the moment it joins and shows as In use to everyone else on your tenant.
The focused device#
One of the two tiles is always the focused device, marked with a highlighted frame. Everything that is not a direct tap on a screen goes to it: typed text, the D-pad, the apps rail, the clipboard block, the transport chips and the session timer all follow the focused tile.
To change focus, click the other tile. The first click on an unfocused tile only moves focus; it does not land as a tap on the device, so you cannot accidentally press something on the phone you were not looking at. After that, taps, swipes and holds work exactly as in a single-device session.
Keyboard users can press Ctrl+1 or Ctrl+2 (Cmd on a Mac) to focus the left or right tile.
Swapping and releasing devices#
Each tile has a ✕ in its top-right corner. Clicking it disconnects that device only: its lock is released and it returns to Available for the rest of your team, while the other tile keeps running. + Add device then lets you bring in a different one.
If you disconnect the focused tile, focus moves to the one that is left.
Ending the session#
End session in the left rail releases both devices and takes you back to the Devices page. Disconnecting the last remaining tile does the same thing, and so does closing the browser tab.
The inactivity timeout runs separately for each device. Working on one tile does not count as activity on the other, so a device you have left alone will show its own Still there? dialog while you carry on with the second. Click Stay connected on it to keep both.
