How leasing works
You don't supply hardware to HelioFleet. We do. This page explains what "leasing a device" actually means, what you control, and what stays ours.
The short version#
You subscribe for a number of devices. We prepare that many real iPhones from our pool, assign them to your tenant, and keep them running. They appear in your console ready to use. When your subscription ends, they come back to us.
What we do#
- Own and host the hardware. The devices sit in our racks, cabled, powered, and monitored.
- Prepare each device before it reaches you - provisioning, streaming, and the on-device components needed for remote control.
- Assign devices to your tenant. After you subscribe (or increase your device count), new devices are typically assigned within several hours.
- Keep them online. We monitor leased devices and restore them when something goes wrong.
- Repair or replace. If a device needs maintenance it may be pulled from your fleet and a replacement assigned. Your tenant admins are notified when that happens.
What you do#
Inside your tenant, leased devices are yours to organize and use:
- Assign them to workspaces so the right people see the right devices - see Managing devices.
- Tag them for your own bookkeeping.
- Run sessions on them - see Device control.
- Launch, stop, and uninstall the apps already on them from inside a session.
What you don't do#
Leased devices are use-only. There is deliberately no knob for:
- Reprovisioning or deleting a device. If one misbehaves, contact support and we'll repair or replace it.
- Choosing a specific model or iOS version. Devices are assigned from our pool. If you have a hard hardware requirement for your testing, tell us - we'll say what we can do, but it isn't self-serve.
- Hosting devices yourself. HelioFleet does not accept customer-supplied hardware.
Which platforms#
iOS only, for now. Every leased device is a real iPhone - no emulators, no simulators.
The device counter#
Admin → Devices shows a Leased devices: X / Y counter:
- Y is what you're paying for - your subscription quantity.
- X is how many devices we've actually assigned so far.
Right after you subscribe or upgrade, X will be lower than Y while we prepare the rest. The card tells you how many are still being prepared. If the gap doesn't close within a business day, contact support.
When a lease ends#
When your subscription is cancelled or lapses, your devices are disabled straight away but held for 24 hours before going back to our pool. Resubscribe within that window and you get exactly the same devices back, still set up, with their workspace assignments and tags intact - nobody else can take them in the meantime.
After 24 hours they're released and wiped for the next customer. Your tenant, users, workspaces, and workspace assignments are still preserved (nothing about your account is deleted), but a later subscription is fulfilled with different hardware that has to be prepared from scratch.
Full detail, including the notifications you get along the way, is in Subscription.
